Though previously rumored, there now appears to be added weight to reports that the upcoming second of the “Star Wars: Anthology” spin-off films will put the focus on the original trilogy’s iconic bounty hunter character Boba Fett.
The report comes from The Wrap which says the film is still targeting a 2018 release despite the loss of director Josh Trank recently. A representative for Disney had no comment though.
In the “Star Wars” universe, Boba Fett is a Mandalorian warrior trained by his father-figure Jango Fett. He became a notorious bounty hunter throughout the galaxy, his travels leading him to work for the Empire.
In other “Star Wars” news, filmmaker J.J. Abrams has revealed that he’s considering putting in a little easter egg in the upcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. That fan reference? The bones of a certain Gungan. He tells Vanity Fair:
“I have a thought about putting Jar Jar Binks’ bones in the desert there. I’m serious! Only three people will notice, but they’ll love it.”
Finally, the British government formally announced Monday that “Star Wars: Episode VIII” will be shot at Pinewood Studios just outside of London where ‘Force Awakens’ was also produced.
