FX has renewed the Cold War drama “The Americans” for a thirteen-episode fourth season. The news comes as the series has four more episodes of the current third season left to air with the finale to screen on April 22nd.
Though not a great rater, the series has received much acclaim from critics with the most recent season nabbing a stunning 92/100 on Metacritic which is the highest score of the year so far and just ahead of “Justified” and “Broad City” with 89/100.
Meanwhile, FOX has renewed its comedy series “New Girl” for a fifth season. The show is currently the network’s longest-running comedy and follows on from the network’s third season pick-up of its cop comedy “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”.
TV Line adds that John Cho is joining the cast next season as a guest star, likely for multiple episodes. Damon Wayans Jr., who was a regular during the recent fourth season, won’t be back for the fifth.
