Thakrar Could Be New “Who” Companion?

“EastEnders” actress Rakhee Thakrar is reportedly in talks to play the next companion for Peter Capaldi’s Time Lord in the next season of “Doctor Who” reports The Mirror.

Thakrar, who plays Shabnam Masood on the long-running soap, will step in for Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) who was last seen going off on her own adventures with Maisie Williams’ character in a restaurant-shaped TARDIS. Williams herself has shot down rumors in recent days that she might return to the series.

The report claims auditions for the coveted role are now taking place but bosses already have their sights set on 32-year-old Thakrar who has just left “Eastenders”. The upcoming tenth season, which won’t screen until 2017, is expected to be both Capaldi and showrunner Steven Moffat’s final year with the series.

Chris Chibnall will take over for Moffat as producer.
