IMAX Corporation, Paramount Pictures and Skydance Production have officially confirmed that “Terminator Genisys” will be digitally re-mastered into the IMAX 3D format and released in IMAX cinemas worldwide starting July 1st.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney and J. K. Simmons star in the Alan Taylor-directed film which essentially serves as a minor reboot of the series. It also marks IMAX’s first foray into the Terminator franchise.
In related news, The Arnold Fans have posted two new reviews of Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier’s screenplay for the film. The reviews seem to be trying to turn the tide on the mixed reaction so far to both the film’s first trailer and Super Bowl commercial.
The review says the first twenty minutes of the film are set during the Future Wars, the next forty minutes will be in 1984, and the second hour of the film will be in an undisclosed time period where the most explosive action takes place.
The second reviewer says “People new to the franchise and fans alike should also be happy as I think this actually feels like a Terminator movie, unlike Rise of the Machines and Salvation.” Said reviewer confirms the three different time zones, and that the film doesn’t have a single villain to deal with but rather several throughout.
