Tennant Joins Animated “Chew” Film

“Doctor Who” and “Broadchurch” star David Tennant has joined the voice cast of the animated feature film adaptation of the popular comic “Chew”.

“Walking Dead” star Steven Yeun and “Supernatural” recurrer Felicia Day will also lend their voices to the project which has a script by the comic’s co-creator John Layman.

Yeun plays a detective who is a “cibopath,” a person who gets psychic impressions from whatever he eats. The action is also set in a world where bird meats are illegal after bird flu killed millions of Americans.

Day plays his love interest, a food critic who can write about food so precisely the reader actually feels like they are tasting it. Yeun and Day recorded their parts last year.

Tennant is voicing Mason Savoy, the detective’s mentor-turned-villain. Tennant takes over a role originally slated to be played by the late Robin Williams and recorded his work this week.

Jeff Krelitz and Peter Panzerfaust are directing the project. David Boxenbaum will produce.
