“Doctor Who” and “Jessica Jones” star David Tennant, former “Agent Carter” actress Hayley Atwell and “For Life” actor Nicholas Pinnock are all set to join the police interrogation drama “Criminal” for Netflix.
The series consists of twelve episodes of 45 minutes each, but is essentially split into four batches of three episodes apiece. Each batch takes place in a different country – France, Spain, Germany and the UK.
In addition, the onscreen action takes place exclusively within the confines of a police interview suite within said country. The aim is for a stripped down, cat-and-mouse drama focusing on the intense mental conflict between a police officer and a suspect in question.
The three additions join Katherine Kelly Lee Ingleby, Mark Stanley, Rochenda Sandall, Shubham Saraf, Youssef Kerkour and Clare-Hope Ashitey with all starring in the UK episodes.
The series hails from “Killing Eve” writer George Kay and “She’s Out Of My League” director Jim Field Smith. Each episode will be produced in the local language, written and directed by local talent but with all twelve episodes to film at Netflix’s production hub at Ciudad de la Tele in Madrid.
