Ted Melfi is in negotiations to direct the remake of the George Burns-led 1979 caper comedy “Going in Style” for New Line.
The original followed three retirees who plan a bank heist. Casting will begin once Melfi’s deal is done.
Melfi had originally penned the script but couldn’t direct due to scheduling issues. The studio began talks with Don Scardino to helm, but his deal couldn’t be worked out.
Melfi’s schedule had now cleared due to the failed negotiations with Scardino having taken enough time. Donald De Line is producing.
