Oscar-winning director Paolo Sorrentino (“The Great Beauty,” “The Young Pope”) has decided to split “Loro,” his biopic about media magnate-turned-Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, into two parts.
Sorrentino started shooting the film last summer and reportedly considered the possibility of making it a two-parter after he began editing.
As a result, the first part will now reportedly be released in Italy on April 24th, with the second coming May 24th (Universal Italy has not confirmed the dates). “Loro” is reportedly still being submitted to Cannes.
Toni Servillo stars as Berlusconi, who served four times as prime minister and still holds considerable sway in the country.
