The first trailer has been released for Floria Sigismondi’s “The Turning,” one of several adaptations of Henry James’ iconic 1898 gothic novella “The Turn of the Screw” that are in the works to release next year.
Mackenzie Davis (“Terminator: Dark Fate”), Finn Wolfhard (“IT,” “Stranger Things”) and Brooklynn Prince (“The Florida Project”) star in the 1990s-set reimagining of the story which takes place at a mysterious estate in the Maine countryside.
Davis plays the newly appointed nanny, charged with the care of two disturbed orphans – Flora (Prince) and Miles (Wolfhard). She quickly discovers that both the children and the house are harboring dark secrets and things may not be as they appear.
The property was previously most faithfully adapted into the 1961 feature “The Innocents,” while Mike Flanagan’s Netflix series “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” the follow-up to “The Haunting of Hill House,” will be based on the same novella.
“The Turning” opens January 24th 2020.
