One of the biggest TV hits of this decade, Julian Fellowes’ period-piece drama “Downton Abbey” closed up shop on the small screen several years ago. Now, at last, it’s making the jump to cinemas.
Today the first teaser trailer has gone online for the “Downton Abbey” film, nearly a full year out from release. All the major cast are expected back including Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, Maggie Smith, Joanne Froggatt, Elizabeth McGovern, Laura Carmichael, Matthew Goode, and Allen Leech.
Like the series, the film chronicles the lives of the British aristocratic Crawley family and their servants in the early 20th Century. Michael Engler helms the project.
New to the franchise Imelda Staunton, Geraldine James, Simon Jones, David Haig, Tuppence Middleton, Kate Phillips, and Stephen Campbell Moore join the film which is scheduled to hit cinemas on September 20th 2019.
