“Fifty Shades of Grey” and “Nowhere Boy” director Sam Taylor-Johnson has dropped out of helming a new indie film about the Chappaquiddick incident to instead get to work on a new Netflix original series from this Summer.
Taylor-Johnson will serve as director and producer on “Gypsy,” a new ten episode psychological thriller that is looking to debut on the streaming giant in 2017. Lisa Rubin, Sean Jablonski, Tim Bevan, Liza Chasin and Eric Fellner will executive produce the series about a therapist who begins taking major chances when she starts involving herself with people close to her various patients.
No-one has been cast in the lead role at this point. Taylor-Johnson became attached to “Chappaquiddick”, a film about the events of Ted Kennedy’s infamous car crash and the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, not long ago. A new director will now be sought.
