Tatum Plans 80s Romanian Cop Series “Iron”

Channing Tatum’s production company Free Association has announced the new buddy cop action-comedy series “Iron Fisting” which A24 will finance and co-produce.

The series is described as a fictional 1980s Romania-set cop show that will follow the adventures of a pair of mismatched policemen partners. Along the way it will skew the buddy cop genre as the two protagonists strive to protect the Communism of 1980s Romania from the evils of Capitalism.

Like a real Romanian series, the project will be dubbed in English and will be shot in Eastern Europe in September. No actors have been cast, and no network is yet attached.

Brian Gatewood and Alex Tanaka (“Animal Practice”) created the show and will serve as executive producers, while SNL alum Rhys Thomas will direct.
