Tate Taylor has taken over directing duties on the Jessica Chastain-led thriller “Eve”. Taylor previously worked with Chastain on the Oscar-nominated “The Help”.
Taylor takes over from Australian actor/director Matthew Newton who was originally slated to direct until the news of his involvement sparked a backlash related to his long documented history of alleged assault and domestic violence.
Chastain stars as a female assassin in the film which is said to be more of a character study than an action feature. Chastain will both star and produce the film via her own Freckle Films in collaboration with Voltage Films. Kelly Carmichael, Nicolas Chartier, and Dominic Rustam will produce.
Chastain recently wrapped work on “IT: Chapter Two” which is still in production.
