Tarzan Ditches Loincloth For Khakis

“The Mummy” and “Van Helsing” director Stephen Sommers has been attached to a “Tarzan” film for a while, and now its been revealed that the vine-swinging hero of this incarnation won’t be like the one you remember.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the new version of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ classic character is “ditching the boy-raised-by-apes origin story for a 1930’s-set romp with a hefty helping of romance”.

Think buff actors, parkour style vine-swining, etc. The aim is something more “Pirates of the Caribbean” rompish – which explains the involvement of scribe Stuart Beattie who penned one of the earliest drafts of ‘Pirates’ and most recently wrote “Australia” which has been compared a lot to the old fashioned romantic corny films of the 30’s.
