Tarantino, P. T. Anderson Talk 70MM & Celluloid

The march towards digital is inevitable and in a few years the photographic technology will likely go the way of the dodo. What’s kept it alive for now though have been a few key high-profile filmmakers and digital holdouts like Chris Nolan, Quentin Tarantino and Paul Thomas Anderson.

Today, Tarantino and Anderson spoke with Deadline about the power of 70MM exhibition, Cinerama, and Tarantino’s UltraPanavision shot Western “The Hateful Eight”. Shot at Tarantino’s house in his own screening room, the conversation also includes discussion of Anderson’s 2012 film “The Master,” the near death of film as a format two years ago, and what’s next in store for it.
