A few weeks on since it first hit, the craze around Syfy’s intentionally terrible “Sharknado” telemovie has had surprising longevity.
It has gotten to the point that even celebrity gossip outlet TMZ posted a story indicating that the film’s female co-star Tara Reid won’t be coming back for the upcoming sequel.
Both Reid and “Sharknado” production company The Asylum soon took to Twitter to deny the reports:
@TaraReid: There is no script for sharknado 2 until i read it then i will make a decision but everyone that is saying i got cut that is not true#liars
@TheAsylumCC: For the record, @TaraReid is awesome and was great to work with in #SHARKNADO. We’d be lucky to have her back for the sequel. That is all!
Both Reid and actor Ian Ziering were both reportedly paid just $50,000 for the film. Reid herself was arguably the movie’s biggest name star before it aired, but the sequel will be able to sell itself on its brand name alone.
