Szechuan Sauce Returns Via “Rick and Morty”

Following a joke in the third season premiere of “Rick and Morty” causing a meme about long discontinued McDonald’s szechuan sauce, the fast food giant is reviving the sauce – with a caveat.

A company representative has confirmed to Polygon that the sauce would be available in “limited quantities for a limited run available in restaurant for one day only”. That day is this Saturday, October 7th.

The meme earlier this year led to major demands for McDonald’s to bring back the limited-time sauce which first debuted as a tie-in to Disney’s 1998 animated film “Mulan”. McDonald’s issued three jars of Szechuan sauce to lucky fans via a contest on Twitter, and one of the winners ended up selling his jar of sauce for what’s rumored to be more than $4,000.

The sauce ties into the launch of McDonald’s new buttermilk chicken tenders. To find out which restaurants are participating, check out the official site for those new tenders.
