Syfy has announced that it has greenlit a pilot for the Superman prequel series “Krypton”.
Set two generations before the destruction of the planet that gave birth to the Man of Steel, the series will follow Kal-El’s grandfather whose House of El was ostracized and shamed. He fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.
Bill McGoldrick, Executive Vice President, Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment says in a statement: “Krypton is one of the most iconic stories in the comic book universe. In the talented hands of David S. Goyer and the DC Entertainment/Warner Horizon Television team, this exciting Syfy project will take viewers back to Superman’s home to show how the timeless legend began.”
“Krypton” will be executive produced by David S. Goyer (“Man of Steel,” “Da Vinci’s Demons”) while Damian Kindler (“Sleepy Hollow”) will serve as show runner; Colm McCarthy (“Peaky Blinders”) is set to direct and co-executive produce the pilot.
