Paramount TV and Universal Cable Productions are set to adapt “Starship Troopers” author Robert Heinlein’s 1961 sci-fi classic novel “Stranger in a Strange Land” as a TV series for Syfy.
The story centers on Valentine Michael Smith, a human who comes to Earth in early adulthood after being born on Mars and raised by Martians. The novel explores his interaction with – and eventual transformation of – terrestrial culture.
Brad Fischer, James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Scott Rudin, Garrett Basch, Joe Vecchio and Eli Bush will executive produce.
This will be the third collaboration of Paramount TV and UCP following USA’s soon to premiere “Shooter” and Spike’s “Pendergast,” an in development adaptation of Preston & Child’s ‘Aloysius Pendergast’ novels which began with the previously adapted for film “The Relic”.
