Luca Guadagnino’s Milan-set social melodrama “I Am Love” premieres at the Venice Film Festival this month, and Guadagnino tells Variety that he and ‘Love’ star/producer Tilda Swinton are already planning another project.
That film? A “rock-n-roll, super funny, super mainstream movie” remake of 1958 Warner Bros. hit “Auntie Mame”. The story, which follows a boy growing up as ward of his dead father’s eccentric sister, would be updated to a contemporary setting. Guadagnino says “This is an SOS for Warner Bros. to give us the rights for this remake, which only Tilda could do justice to.”
Guadagnino’s First Sun is also still moving forward with the David Gordon Green-directed remake of Dario Argento’s 1977 cult hit “Suspiria” which will begin filming next year.
