“Swamp Thing” Cancellation Confirmed

Swamp Thing Cancellation Confirmed

Just one week after the first season premiere went to air, what has been long rumored is now set as Bloody Disgusting has confirmed reports that DC Universe has already canceled the James Wan-produced “Swamp Thing” series.

Reports of the series being axed came months ago when prior to the filming of the tenth episode it sounded like the show was being retooled from a thirteen episode first season of an ongoing series into a ten-episode self-contained one-off event series.

Now that’s been confirmed and comes despite the series being reviewed positively by critics and embraced by fans. The blame for the decision has been aimed squarely at executives behind the DC Universe service who fretted over tone, along with concerns about WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service plans with DC Universe’s future currently being ‘re-evaluated’.

Crystal Reed, Jennifer Beals, Derek Mears, Virginia Madsen, Ian Ziering, Will Patton, Andy Bean, Kevin Durand, Henderson Wade, Jeryl Prescott and Maria Sten star in the series which will continue airing over the next two months on the service.
