Oscar-winning director Susanne Bier (“In a Better World,” “After the Wedding”) is in talks to direct the biopic “Mary Queen of Scots” for Working Title.
Saoirse Ronan (“Atonement,” “Hanna”) is attached to play Mary Stuart, the Scottish queen who famously attempted (and failed) to overthrow her English cousin Queen Elizabeth I in the 16th century. She was ultimately imprisoned and executed.
Acclaimed playwright Penelope Skinner (“How I Live Now”) will team with “Elizabeth” and “The Tudors” scribe Michael Hirst on the script. Filming begins sometime next year.
