After a failed attempt with the much derided “Bloodlines” episode, The CW is taking another shot at a “Supernatural” spin-off with a more established set of characters.
Titled “Wayward Sisters,” the project is being done as a backdoor pilot during the upcoming thirteenth season of the main show. The story would follow fan favorite character Sheriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) and a group of troubled young women, all of them orphaned by supernatural tragedy.
Under Mills’ training and protection, these women will emerge as a supreme monster-fighting force. Other characters from “Supernatural” would also migrate to the new series.
Rhodes is so far the only confirmed cast member but orphan Claire Novak and runaway Alex Jones, who’ve been under Jody’s care in recent seasons, would seem a good fit. A memorable scene with the three along with main series stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles is included below.
Andrew Dabb, Robert Singer, Phil Sgriccia and Robert Berens will executive produce with Dabb and Berens to write the script.
