In a show like The CW’s “Supernatural” where characters have died and come back numerous times from the dead, Hell, Purgatory, Heaven and more – the on-screen death of a character is not necessarily the end of the road.
However, it has now been made official – Mark Sheppard and his character of Crowley, the crossroads demon turned King of Hell, will not be returning as a regular for the upcoming thirteenth season of the series.
Crowley seemingly killed himself in another dimension in the recent twelfth season finale, and on Tuesday night Sheppard dropped an Instagram post which made it clear he’s moving on from the show because he feels it’s time to move on and try something different.
Sheppard was first introduced in the fifth season and recurred through several seasons, rising to a regular in the tenth. The character has become one of the most beloved of the show thanks to his shifting allegiances and dry dark wit which provides often welcome moments of levity.
