Supergirl Has Fall TV’s Biggest Debut

Despite the pilot having leaked online months ago, CBS’ “Supergirl” TV series had its debut last night and pulled in strong numbers – in fact it was the Fall’s highest-rated and most-watched new series debut for a first night showing.

“Supergirl” averaged a strong 3.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 12.9 million viewers in live-plus-same day metrics, putting it just ahead of NBC’s “Blindspot” which had the best debut to date with a 3.1 rating. That number is expected to grow considerably when delayed viewing is taken into account.

Meanwhile Henry Czerny (“Revenge,” “Mission: Impossible”) will join the cast of “Supergirl” in the guest starring role of mad criminal genius Winslow Schott Sr. (aka. The Toyman). At present, Czerny is only booked for one episode.

In the series, the character is also the estranged father of series regular Winn Schott (Jeremy Jordan) and is driven by a desire to reunite with his beloved son.
