“Sunny Afternoon” Brings The Kinks To Film

British 1960s rock favorites The Kinks are set to get a biopic of sorts as a film adaptation of the 2014 West End musical “Sunny Afternoon” is reportedly in the works.

The musical explores not just the creation of iconic Kinks hits like “You Really Got Me,” “All Day and All of the Night,” “Tired of Waiting for You” and “Lola,” but also the tumultuous relationship between the two brothers at the band’s center.

The Daily Mail broke the news revealing that “The Road” and “Mindhunter” scribe Joe Penhall, who also penned the musical’s book, will pen the script while Dexter Fletcher (“Eddie The Eagle,” “Sunshine On Leith”) will direct.

The project is said to be in very early stages with no production or release dates yet set.
