ThinkFilm, Lifetime Networks and Netflix’s Red Envelope Entertainment have jointly acquired the North American rights to the Felicity Huffman-Elle Fanning Sundance drama “Phoebe in Wonderland” for $3 million says the trades.
Daniel Barnz’s tale follows a troubled girl (Fanning) who dreams of starring in her school production of “Alice in Wonderland” but gets sidetracked by her fantasy life and increasingly disturbing behavior. Patricia Clarkson, Bill Pullman and Campbell Scott also star.
ThinkFilm will distribute “Phoebe” theatrically in the fall, followed by simultaneous Netflix rentals and ThinkFilm retail DVD sales and rentals. Lifetime has exclusive TV rights to the film, which will be shown early 2009.
