Suki Waterhouse Joins “Detective Pikachu”

More casting on the currently filming “Pokemon” movie “Detective Pikachu” is underway with Suki Waterhouse (“Assassination Nation,” “The Bad Batch”) joining the project at Legendary Entertainment.

Pokemon has players acting as trainers who collect cute but powerful monsters called Pokemon in order to compete in battle tournaments. Pikachu is a species of Pokemon, and Det. Pikachu stands unique among them – a self-styled investigator good at finding things.

In the film, Justice Smith plays a young man whose father is kidnapped, forcing the teen to team up with Pikachu (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) and a journalist (Kathryn Newton) to find him. Waterhouse’s character details are being kept secret.

Rob Letterman helms the film which also stars Ken Watanabe, Bill Nighy and Chris Geere. Mary Parent and Cale Boyter are producing.
