With filming underway on James Gunn’s DC Comics adaptation “The Suicide Squad,” the first set photos from the Atlanta shoot have gone online and showcase some of the characters in their costumes.
In doing so, the shots confirm a recent report about which characters some of the new actors to the franchise are playing. All were joined by Jai Courtney returning as Captain Boomerang for the shoot.
Nathan Fillion is seen as Arm-Fall-Off-Boy, a character who can detach his own limbs to use as weapons. Pete Davidson is Blackguard who has super-strength.
Flula Borg is Javelin, a former Olympic athlete turned villain with high tech spears. Mayling Ng is Mongal, daughter of the world-conquering dictator Mongul and not very different from her dad.
Sean Gunn is also there in a mo-cap costume. The original report correctly named all the others whilst also starting Gunn is playing Weasal and adding that Michael Rooker is Savant and Idris Elba is Vigilante.
Elba, Margot Robbie, John Cena, Peter Capaldi, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, David Dastmalchian, Storm Reid, Alice Braga, Daniela Melchior and Taika Waititi among others have been cast but aren’t seen in the shots.
