The first tracking figures are in for David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad” and it looks like the black sheep of the DC Comics family could well become its great white hope on the big screen.
THR reports that early tracking on the film suggests the movie is headed for a $125 million opening weekend – and that’s at a point three weeks out from release, with numbers tending to shift upwards closer to release.
If it stays at current level it will be about on par with “Deadpool” which opened in February to $132 million. It will certainly take the August opening weekend record which is currently held by “Guardians of the Galaxy” with $94 million.
Advance tickets for “Suicide Squad” will go on sale Friday, July 15th.
