In the wake of yesterday’s Comic Con panel for Warners’ “Suicide Squad” movie, the studio has now unveiled a first look at the film’s official logo which you can see below.
The major cast including Will Smith and Margot Robbie, but not Jared Leto, showed up at the convention but did not open themselves up to questions. The film’s director David Ayer did throw down a bit of a gauntlet: “Who’s got the best bad guys out there? DC Comics. I’m not trying to start no East coast west coast feud with Marvel Comics but someone has got to say the truth.”
The highlight of the panel was a three-minute trailer showing off plenty of new footage of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Amanda Waller, Rick Flagg, El Diablo, Katana, Killer Croc, Captain Boomerang and The Joker – all set to a haunting sounding cover of The BeeGee’s “I Started a Joke”.
It was an astonishing trailer that strangely Warners has decided NOT to officially release the footage through their official channels. Even stranger, it’s available in bootleg form in many places online and the studio doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to take those copies down with some still there at least a full day after going up.
The film opens August 5th next year.
