Michael Sucsy (“Grey Gardens”) is set to make his feature film directorial debut on “Goree Girls” for Overnight Productions says Variety.
Based on a 2003 Texas Monthly article, the story follows the eight female prisoners in 1940’s Texas who formed one of the first all-female Country & Western acts in the country. They soon became a public favorite and were eventually pardoned.
Jennifer Aniston will topline the cast with production to kick off in January. Aniston, Rick Schwartz, Aaron Kaufman and Kristin Hahn serve as producers.
Margaret Nagle penned the original script which John Lee Hancock and then Sucsy have polished. Shooting kicks off in January.
