Eight studios have reportedly expressed interest in “In the Loop” director and “Veep” creator Armando Iannucci’s untitled new comedy feature pitch about U.S. politics.
British writer Iannucci, coming off “The Death of Stalin,” tweeted a film comedy pitch in which U.S. President Donald Trump is drugged and moved to a replica White House, where he carries on thinking he’s governing. Millions are spent on hiring actors to play his staff, Senators, news anchors, people at rallies.
Though done as more of a joke initially, Iannucci has reportedly already received one ‘big offer’ this morning while actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus and “Catastrophe” co-creator Rob Delaney both responded that they love to be involved. Another follower came up with a title he liked – “Fake America Great Again”.
Iannucci is currently making the HBO sci-fi comedy pilot “Avenue 5” starring Hugh Laurie.
