Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, James Corden, Ariana Grande, Awkwafina, Keegan-Michael Key and Andrew Rannells are all set to be a part of the film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical “The Prom” for Netflix.
Set in Indiana, the story follows a group of four down-and-out theater actors who tries to help a teenage girl whose school prom was cancelled when she tried to bring her girlfriend as her prom date.
All seven actors will be playing key roles in the project which hails from TV mastermind Ryan Murphy. Filming is set to begin this December with a planned Fall 2020 release which aims to get in on the awards season.
Bill Damaschke and Dori Berinstein will produce the film which falls under Murphy’s multi-year deal with Netflix.
