With the N.W.A. biopic “Straight Outta Compton” proving such a massive success for Universal Pictures, it’s not a huge surprise that there’s talk of a potential sequel – this time focusing on the next generation of West Coast rappers that came along.
TMZ says that Tha Dogg Pound rapper Daz Dillinger has advised them that a follow-up is already in the works with events taking place almost directly afterwards.
Instead of dealing with the members of N.W.A. though, it will focus on the careers of numerous major rappers including Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur, Suge Knight, Nate Dogg, Warren G, Kurupt and Dillinger himself. Like ‘Compton’, it’s expected the film will focus on the rise of the group and offer a look at the violence and conflict that ties in with that rise.
However a Universal spokesman has denied the rumors, telling EW: “At this time there are no plans for a Straight Outta Compton sequel.” Ice Cube’s publicist has also issued a statement indicating he has yet to sign off on a follow-up to the recent biopic.
