Storm Reid (“A Wrinkle in Time,” “12 Years a Slave”) has joined filmmaker Leigh Whannell’s upcoming new adaptation of H.G. Wells’ classic novel “The Invisible Man” at Universal Pictures.
Elisabeth Moss plays Cecilia, a woman who receives the news of her abusive ex-boyfriend’s suicide. She begins to rebuild her life for the better but her sense of reality is put into question when she begins to suspect her deceased lover is not actually dead.
Reid will play Sydney in the movie. With her mother gone, she’s picked up the maternal slack and is very capable and mature for her age. She initially likes having Cecilia around as a role model but grows mistrustful of her when strange things begin to happen around the house.
The new take is said to be “rooted in horror, with no restrictions on budget, tone or rating” as opposed to the previously planned big-budget version starring Johnny Depp which was abandoned when the studio scuttled its Dark Universe initiative.
