Stooges, “Ghostbusters 3,” “Super 8” Denials

Peter Farrelly has denied the most recent round of casting rumours about “The Three Stooges” which had Johnny Knoxville, Andy Samberg and Australian comedian Shane Jacobson as the three brothers.

The filmmaker tells Entertainment Weekly that “there are no contenders at this point… You don’t want people to think ‘they already cast that thing,’ because we haven’t. it’s wide open to everybody.”

Filming is still slated to kick off mid-April in Atlanta, which means actors will have to be locked down soon.

Meanwhile, you can forget pretty much everything you’ve ever read about a third “Ghostbusters”. Producer/director Ivan Reitman tells Cinema Blend that “virtually everything you’ve read on the internet [about Ghostbusters III] is not accurate.”

Reitman also confirms the first full script by Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg was only completed a month ago.

Finally, there was talk last week that J.J. Abrams’ upcoming “E.T.”-esque project “Super 8” was going to be retitled “Darlings” after a listing on a Brazilian Paramount publicity site indicated that.

Paramount has since come back, saying the title listing on the site was “for security purposes only” and the film’s title worldwide will remain the initially announced “Super 8”.
