Almost a decade on, “Superbad” co-stars Jonah Hill and Emma Stone are te-reaming for “Maniac,” a proposed comedy TV series project from Paramount TV and Anonymous Content.
Based on the 2014 Norwegian series, the story revolves around a man (Hill) in a mental institution who lives out vivid heroic and romantic fantasies in his head. Stone would play his psychologist/love interest.
“True Detective” and “Beasts of No Nation” helmer Cary Fukunaga will direct all the episodes of the straight-to-series project which doesn’t have a writer yet attached. Michael Sugar and Doug Wald will produce.
Fukunaga, Anonymous Content and Paramount TV are currently at work on a series adaptation of Caleb Carr’s “The Alienist” for TNT.
