Stoll James Join Spielbergs West Side Story

Corey Stoll (“House of Cards,” “First Man”) and Brian d’Arcy James (“Spotlight,” “Molly’s Game”) have joined Steven Spielberg’s new film adaptation of classic musical “West Side Story”.

Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler star as star-crossed lovers Tony, a former member of a white gang known as The Jets, and Maria, the younger sister of the leader of the Puerto Rican gang The Sharks.

Stoll will play Lieutenant Schrank, a New York City detective charged with quelling civic unrest in his racially divided precinct. dʼArcy James will play Sergeant Krupke, a veteran cop whose beat includes the territories of the Sharks and the Jets.

The group join the already cast Rita Moreno (Valentina), Ariana DeBose (Anita), David Alvarez (Bernardo) and Josh Andres Rivera (Chino). The project is based on the original 1957 Broadway musical by Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim and Jerome Robbins.
