Indie director Steven Caple Jr. (“The Land”) will helm the sequel to Rocky spinoff “Creed” at MGM and Warner Bros. Pictures.
At the same time, actress Tessa Thompson also set to reprise her roll as Bianca in the movie which already has Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan set to return.
Stallone and “Luke Cage” showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker have co-written the follow-up which will deal with Adonis Creed as he tries to navigate his newfound fame.
Stallone had been planning on directing as recently as October but something has changed. Irwin Winkler, Charles Winkler, William Chartoff, David Winkler and Kevin King-Templeton are set to produce.
Ryan Coogler, who helmed the first film and is currently wrapping up work on “Black Panther,” is expected to executive produce. The “Creed” sequel opens November 21st next year.
