Steve Zaillian is in negotiations to rewrite the script for the Jack Ryan reboot at Paramount Pictures reports Reuters.
Chris Pine is slated to star as the budding intelligence analyst from the Tom Clancy novel series and the four previous film adaptations. Previously titled “Moscow”, the project now seems to be going by the moniker “Jack Ryan”.
Shooting was to kick off in Budapest in March, then got pushed back to later in the Spring. Now with re-writes, the start date has been pushed back again – potentially up to a month. The studio can’t risk any further delays though as Pine is committed to their “Star Trek” sequel.
Jack Bender is directing the film. Zaillian (“Schindler’s List,” “The Interpreter”) most recently penned the adaptation for David Fincher’s “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.” He also previously adapted one of the earlier Jack Ryan films, 1994’s “Clear and Present Danger” with Harrison Ford in the role.
