It has been in development hell for nearly a decade, yet the film adaptation of Steve Niles’s contemporary-set comic mini-series spin on the Frankenstein story “Wake the Dead” hasn’t died on the table just yet.
Joel Schumacher had previously been linked to the project back in 2004, now however it’s ended up in the hands of someone unexpected – Guns N Roses guitarist Slash.
Hero Complex reports that Slash has started his started his own production company, the subtly named Slasher Films, and “Wake The Dead” is set to be one of the first productions.
Niles says he wants to “recapture the quality of horror like they made them in the ’70s…horror where you care about the characters and story”. Jay Russell (“Ladder 49”) will direct the film.
