Steve Carell is in talks to join the ensemble of the film adaptation of the popular video game “Minecraft” for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Rob McElhenney is set to direct the film and worked on the latest draft of the script with “Wonder Woman” scribe Jason Fuchs. Warners acquired the film rights to the games in February.
Debuting in 2009, the game allows players to create their own avatars and build an environment using textured cubes in a 3D world as they battle nocturnal monsters.
Roy Lee and Jill Messick will produce with a May 25th 2019 release planned.
