Sterling K Brown Turns Cop In The Fence

Sterling K. Brown (“American Crime Story,” “The Predator”) is in negotiations to star in the biopic “The Fence” for Fox Searchlight. Peter Nicks is on board to direct from a script by George Pelecanos and Dennis Lehane.

Brown plays Michael Cox, an African-American undercover cop who is mistaken for a suspect and brutally beaten by his own force following one of the largest police chases in Boston history.

As Cox seeks answers and justice for what happened, he finds himself on the other side of the ‘blue wall of silence’ as the Boston Police Department aggressively covers it up.

The project is based on the book by award-winning Boston Globe journalist Dick Lehr (“Black Mass”). Jeffrey Sharp, Jim Kohlberg and Luke Parker Bowles are producing.

No filming start date has been announced but it will likely happen during Brown’s hiatus from “This is Us” over the spring.
