Stellan Skarsgard is in negotiations to join David Fincher’s English-language film adaptation of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” for Sony Pictures reports Variety.
“I have met Fincher, I want to work with him, he wants to work me. I have had a concrete offer and now we are in negotiations” says Skarsgard who confirms the film shoot will run from September to March.
“Most of it is to be shot in Stockholm, but some studio work will be done in the U.S. I think there might be some location work there as well, when it becomes too dark to shoot here” adds the actor who doesn’t yet know when his role will begin filming.
The story follows a disgraced journalist and a misunderstood rebellious female hacker investigating the 40-year-old disappearance of retired industrialist Henrik Vanger’s niece on a remote island. Their investigations uncover religious killings, Nazism, rape, child abuse and murder.
Skarsgard is in talks to play Martin Vanger, the now grown up brother of the missing girl and current president of the Vanger Corporation. Steve Zaillian penned the script.
