One of the more interesting rumours to spring up last night was that of action star Jason Statham being eyed to play the assassin Bullseye in the upcoming second season of Marvel and Netflix’s “Daredevil”.
Latino Review broke the report which says Marvel TV wants Statham for the role, and Statham has actually met with them about it, but the company hasn’t confirmed anything.
If he joined, he would be just one of the famed potential antagonists to show next season with rumors that future love interest Elektra, classic Spidey villain Mysterio, and a version of Mr. Fear could all show up.
Then this morning, Statham has offered an opinion of Marvel movies in general during an interview for “Spy” at i400Calci which suggests he’s likely not that interested:
“A lot of the modern sort of action movies I see, you know, Marvel comic sort of things, I just think, any guy can do it. I have no ambition. I mean, I could take my grandma and put her in a cape, and then put her in a green screen, and then have stunt doubles come in and do all the action. Anybody can do it. I mean, they’re relying on stunt doubles, and green screen, and $200 million budget, it’s all CGI-created. So to me, that is not authentic. I’m inspired by old, real star guys that can really do it.”
Filming on the second season of “Daredevil” gets underway this Summer ahead of a Q2 2016 premiere.
