Starz, Araki, Soderbergh Plan “Apocalypse”

Filmmakers Gregg Araki (“Doom Generation,” “Mysterious Skin”) and Steven Soderbergh (“Traffic,” “The Knick”) are teaming for a new half-hour comedy series titled “Now Apocalypse” for Starz.

The series is described as a surreal, coming-of-age comedy which follows Ulysses and his friends Carly, Ford and Severine, who are on various quests pursing love, sex and fame in Los Angeles. Ulysses grows increasingly troubled as foreboding premonitory dreams make him wonder if some kind of dark and monstrous conspiracy going on.

Araki created the series with both him and Soderbergh executive producing. Starz has ordered a ten-episode first season with all the episodes co-written by author and Vogue.com sex columnist Karley Sciortino.
