The upcoming DC Universe streaming platform has announced one more title set to join its ranks, a live-action “Stargirl” series, making it the seventh overall new show to be announced for the service.
The story follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. The new series will also include other members of the Justice Society of America.
Geoff Johns and Greg Berlanti will executive produce the series with Berlanti writing. Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions will produce the project set to premiere in 2019.
“Stargirl” joins four other live-action straight-to-series titles – “Titans,” “Doom Patrol,” “Swamp Thing,” and “Metropolis” along with animated shows “Harley Quinn” and “Young Justice: Outsiders”. The show will mark Berlanti’s sixteenth live-action scripted series on the air including eight CW shows, two CBS shows, one at Netflix, one at NBC, one at Lifetime and two at DC Universe.
