Youtube is set to be a very busy place next week as it has been announced that Lucasfilm and Disney will unveil the “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” toy line live on the video site as part of an eighteen-hour broadcast from across the globe on September 3rd.
The ‘Countdown to Force Friday’ broadcast will span the globe and unbox new merchandise from this winter’s movie. Things kick off in Sydney, Australia at 7:45am local time then head to Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, Berlin, Paris, Madrid, London, Rio De Janeiro, New York, Toronto, Chicago, Mexico City, San Francisco and Los Angeles across the broadcast.
Throughout, products from the ‘Force Awakens’ toyline will be unboxed for the first time with each of the 15 locations set to feature the reveal of a new product by a personality from Disney’s Maker Studios video network.
The event happens a day before ‘Force Friday’ on September 4th on which ‘Force Awakens’ merchandise will be released to the public for the first time. More than 1,000 stores in the U.S. are opening at midnight and head to StarWars.com for more details.
Meanwhile, The J.J. Abrams-directed film is also set to get an extended stay in IMAX theaters from December 18th. At present, the film is set to open on 375 to 400 IMAX screens in the United States and 400 more internationally.
Now comes word that the film is set to have IMAX screenings in cinemas across the country for an entire month – a lengthy period of time which they last offered to the three films of “The Hobbit” trilogy.
