We’re due one more trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” before its release with many expecting it to hit in the next 2-3 weeks.
The most common rumor has been that it would come out next week during the second season premiere of “Star Wars: Rebels” on October 14th, a more recent one suggested we wouldn’t see it until early November.
Now though, a new report at SW7 News indicates that according to their sources, IMAX tickets for the film go onsale at midnight on Monday October 19th. We’ll get the new trailer on the same day, and until that trailer is released there’ll be no new footage from the film. After that, expect only a few more TV spots as this will be the last pre-release preview.
In related news, Collider says they’ve confirmed that actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw has joined the cast of “Star Wars: Episode VIII”.
The actress was one of four rumored for two key roles in the film. With one of those four, Tatiana Maslany, having signed on to the Boston Marathon Bombing movie “Stronger,” Mbatha-Raw’s casting seems a logical step to fill one of those roles. Production on ‘Episode 8’ kicks off in earnest early next year.
Finally, Hasbro has revealed photos of several new ‘Force Awakens’ toys ahead of New York Comic Con. The new toys include 6″ Black Series figures with characters like Domhnall Gleeson’s General Hux and Harrison Ford’s Han Solo which can be seen here, along with several Wave 2 Big-Figs which can be seen here. Further toys will be revealed over the course of the weekend.
